Joanne Katherine Rowling was six years old when she wrote her first story, entitled Rabbit. She was friends with some kids and they all liked to play witches, one bearing the name Harry Potter. She says she has always liked that name. During school, she was much like Hermione Granger. She worked very hard after during a class she sat in the 'stupid' row. She later moved to Portugal to teach the English language. She first began writing the Harry Potter books and also had a daughter. After she moved to England, a year after she finished the first Potter book, an English and American company bought the book and rights. Rowling is very surprised at the popularity of the books, saying that she only wrote them for her and her daughter. The Harry Potter books have become bestsellers of all time.
